Tips for Creating a Scrapbook for a Child
Apr 29th, 2009 | By Cathy | Category: Baby Album Scrapbook, ScrapbookingIf you are a mom who enjoys scrapbooking, you will have heaps of opportunities. Kids, as they are growing up, love scrapbooks, especially when they are the main focus.

If you intend to eventually pass your scrapbook on to your child, it is important to make it fun, interesting, colorful and exciting to look at. Young children and teenagers are not always at the stage where they can truly appreciate the thought and love behind a scrapbook gift. The great thing is that there are tons of ways for you to spice up a scrapbook and make it perfect for your child.
The first thing for you to do is gather together all the photographs you want to put in your child’s scrapbook. If you want to make one scrapbook to cover several years of your child’s life, store the photographs separately in ziplock bags with the year marked on the front. This is important, as you will want to do your scrapbook in date order, starting with your newborn baby boy or girl. Organize the pictures in the order you want them to appear in the baby scrapbook.
Once you have all the photographs organized, you may want to start gluing right away…Stop! A very important rule of scrapbooking is never to use your original photographs. Either print your own copies if you have digital photographs and a good quality printer, or take your memory card to a store where you can print extra copies.
If you only have the photos in ‘hard copy’ format, you can scan them in or if you don’t have access to a scanner, you can use the photo stations found in many retail stores.
If you have digital photographs and a good quality printer at home, you are advised to use photo editing software. Most photo editing software programs allow you to edit your pictures…so you can eliminate red eye, crop or resize picture, and change the contrast, exposure and make a host of other improvements.
Some types of software program will even allow you to transform a picture into a coloring page, which either you or your child if they are old enough, can color with markers or crayons. Wouldn’t that look neat in a kid’s scrapbook?
